Beyond the scale
Not seeing progress on the scale? Barely budging? Did you have a rockstar day of eating and tracking only to see your weight go up the next morning? If you are relying on the scale alone as an indicator of your progress, I’m telling you to stop. Just stop. You are only setting yourself up for disappointment.
📉 While using the scale as a tool to provide useful data that can trigger questions about adherence, consistency and lifestyle (activity, stress, sleep, etc), it is important to realize that your weight can fluctuate up and down constantly. Day to day. Even hourly. And that number will not always reflect the consistent effort you’ve put in towards your goals and should not define you or your happiness.
👀 I want to remind you that there are so many other signs of progress beyond the scale that you might not be seeing, which means you might need to look a little deeper.
👉🏽 Shift your mindset to other wins that have nothing to do with the scale, and are more indicative of how you’ve improved your day-to-day life and overall well-being. For example:
Your clothes fit better
You’re crushing workouts
You feel more confident
You feel more energized
Your mood is up
You feel satisfied after meals
You chose 3 different colored veggies
You made it to the gym 3 times in a week
You woke up without an alarm or didn’t hit snooze
You had 1 glass of wine with dinner instead of 2
You ate out at a restaurant and didn’t go overboard
You sat down to eat your meal and didn’t look at your phone
You ate some ice cream, enjoyed it and moved on without regret
🥳 Are you nodding your head to any of these things? If so, then let’s celebrate!!!!
💃🏻 Remember, these feelings and actions are the victories that truly speak to your progress, your quality of life and the life you want to lead moving forward.
👊🏽 Keep this in mind when you’re struggling to see anything else besides the number on the scale, and then keep crushing it.
